Last year I wrote about my trip to the Panto to watch Cinderella, and this year we went to watch Jack and the Beanstalk. Pantomimes are my absolute favourite Christmas tradition and I have to attend every year. This years cast was exceptional at Bournemouth Pavillion. S Club 7’s Rachel Stevens played Fairy Sweet Pea, Holby City’s Mark Moraghan plays the villian Fleshcreep, Milkshake! Presenter Derek Moran is this years star Jack, Jamie Steen is Dame Trot and Noel Brodie is back by popular demand as Simple Simon.
Noel has been cast in the last 4 Pantomimes Bournemouth have staged and it honestly would not feel like the Panto without him now. His energy on stage is amazing and he is so funny. Yan & I were in stitches of laughter every time he came on stage! So much so, that we’re booking tickets to see his standalone comedy show on January 5th, I can’t wait!
This years Panto was like nothing else I have seen before, in the second act everyone was given 3D glasses as they used 3D effects when they were defeating the giant on stage. It was so different but it worked really well. The effects of the giant reaching out to grab the audience were so good, the theatre was filled with screams and entertainment. There was also a ghost that came on the screen with a water gun and when it ‘fired water’ into the audience, there were cast members with water guns behind us all actually spraying the audience with water’
It was such good fun and it’s the only time of year my 3 year old will sit and watch something all the way through. I would recommend going to see your local Pantomime no matter where you live, they are such good family entertainment and there really is something for everyone. If you’re local to Bournemouth you can buy tickets for Jack and the Beanstalk here.
Looking forward to seeing next years already!
