Why I Took A Break From Blogging.

I’m back! It has been forever since I sat down and wrote a blog post.

Let me start by telling you why I stopped blogging. As some of you may be aware, I was attempting the Zoella Book Club Challenge. I reached Week 6 and then I stopped. I absolutely adore reading, but trying to complete a book, enjoy it and then write a review on it each week was too much! The last book I read in the book club was ‘After The Fire’ by Will Hill. I felt like I rushed through this book just to get it read in time for a review that I didn’t fullyappreciate it. So I actually stopped doing the book club reviews and reread After The Fire at my own pace and I enjoyed this book twice as much by doing this.

I felt like I had put way too much pressure on myself to keep up with all of these other incredible bloggers completing this book club that I had forgotten why I started reading them in the 1st place. I had lost all my passion for reading and all my creativity in writing reviews had disappeared with it.

I didn’t want to blog about anything anymore, let alone books. So I stopped. I deleted the wordpress app on my phone, I stopped engaging in Twitter Chats, I stopped posting blog related pictures on my Instagram. I just took a complete break from the blogging community. Did it work?!

The answer is yes! It worked more than I can explain. I got thinking about why I wanted to start blogging. I wanted somewhere I could post about and review things that I like, whether that is a book, a film, a beauty product, a place. I didn’t want it to be somewhere that I felt pressured by myself to continuously post more than I could manage. I work almost full time hours and on top of that I am a mum. Blogging is my hobby and I needed to take a step back and stop comparing myself to everyone else who is absolutely killing it! I also took the time away from blogging to start up my YouTube channel. It’s something I had wanted to do for a long time and I finally took the plunge!

I’m not going to have a blogging schedule (as we all know I rarely stick to that), but I will be back and posting a lot more frequently! I want to say a special thank you to everyone who still kept visiting my blog whilst I was MIA, it truly means so much that I still had interaction on my posts!

Much Love

L xx
